36. We hit 27,000, bought a new laptop and upgraded the internet!

This has been a huge month! After many hours of technical problems uploading and using BlogTV I bit the bullet and went out and bought a new laptop and upgraded my internet. However great the laptop is I am afraid that it has Windows 8 and that is driving me insane! For some reason I am having a lot of problems with it bringing up my Gmails. I am sure I will find the answers, eventually, but in the short term I am hating this new Windows.

BlogTV has taken on a life of its own! We started with just one broadcast a week for about an hour. Now we are doing at least 2 per week and they last anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on who is there. I have laughed until I cried and be in awe of the patience of our viewers – especially when I was having all the set up issues with the new computer yesterday. I love the co-host aspect and am forever grateful to Jess, Glen, JC/Katie and all the others who now bring even more flavour/flavor to the broadcasts! I love the fact that we move from comedy to soul issues in a heartbeat and that both are equally entertaining for us all.

We are entering our 5th month of operation and it is all taking up more and more time – to vlogg regularly, to do the BlogTV broadcasts and to keep up with the mail. The learning curve is now around more and more technical issues, quality control and balance – the latter being something I need to pay attention to if I want my house to ever look normal again!!

I bought one of those robotic floor cleaners (not the Roomba, mine is just just for sweeping wood floors) a Vileda. That little red machine is keeping some of the dog hair under control as I multi-task with more important (to me) tasks.

I feel somewhat amused that I didn’t get half the Christmas decorations up this year and yet had a really great time of it anyway. Zachy and I made/taste tested the chocolate covered marshmallows we had been developing over the past few months and they were a big hit with everyone – definitely a redo on the baking list. I bought the frozen shortbread “pucks” this year and they were delicious. I am sure I saved both money and time on those because they are just so easy to bake and they are worth every penny.

Everyone gave me very thoughtful gifts this year and I am really truly grateful for all I received. The one that the kid in me loved was the remote controlled helicopter that I have yet to get off the ground. I am looking forward to playing with it and I am sure that Zachary will be much better at it than I will be!

On Christmas Day (or rather very early in the morning of Boxing Day!!) I was in a deep discussion with a technical young person who told me that my next step was to make sure I had the domain names secured. So I have registered the DearMamaSal domains (.ca, .com, .net and .info) and feel like we are building a little world more quickly than I had imagined. Now the next learning curve will be to bring some of the “product” under one or some of those domain names and centralize things. I know that I will be challenged but it is just the next step that needs to be taken… so get over it, Sal. You can do it!!

I have added my favourite Christmas pic! Just such a great group of people who made my Christmas so special this year 🙂

Lesson learned: Getting an upgrade of equipment will drive you insane, cause you untold stress and won’t necessarily work the way you thought it would!
